Originally from Killaloe, I have lived in West Clare since 2000. I am a fine art graduate of the Limerick School of Art and Design and have been a full time artist since 1999.
I have exhibited my work in both Limerick and Clare and have successfully maintained a loyal clientele for my original artwork. My artistic activities are broad based and multidisciplinary; I utilize my creativity to assist my local communities in a visual context.
Keeping my artistic practice energized is important to me; I completed an M.A. Hist. of Art, 2013 and a QQI award training, delivery & evaluation, 2016. These qualifications have assisted my professional development particularly in the area of Creative facilitation.
As a painter I work alone. I find running workshops energizes my practice and provides an opportunity to socially engage and share my skills with a diverse range of people including;
Kilmihil active retirement group (LCETB)
National School Children, ( Artists in Schools Scheme)
Secondary School Children (Artist in the Classroom Initiative) and Adults with a Disability, Brothers of Charity, Limerick.
As a landscape painter I use line, colour and light to pay homage to the unique qualities of the physical world of my locality.
Presently, I am working on a number of paintings and drawings inspired by my cycling/walking trips within the 10 km restriction of the Covid-19 epidemic. This limitation of distance has enabled me to look more closely at my very local environment. My new work is inspired by familiar motifs from different perspectives.
My artworks are presently available from The Kilbaha Gallery, Kilbaha, Co. Clare.
